Invite and manage members of your CodeCharter organization

Invite people to your organization by email, track pending and past invitations, and revoke access before it is accepted.

The Invitations tab of your organization's settings (/orgs/<slug>/settings/invitations) is where you bring new people into your organization. You need the Manager or Owner role to see this tab; see Roles and permissions for what each role can do.

Sending an invitation

  1. Click Invite to open the invitation form.
  2. Enter the email address.
  3. Choose a role. The list only offers roles up to your own level, so a Manager can invite up to Manager and an Owner can invite any role.
  4. Click Send invitation.

The invited address receives an email with your organization's name, who invited them, the role offered, and a link to accept. Accepting requires signing in (or registering) with that exact email address; a different account is turned away with an explanation rather than silently linked to the invitation.

Only one open invitation can exist per email address at a time. Sending a new invitation to an address that already has one supersedes the earlier one.

Outstanding and past invitations

The Outstanding list shows every invitation that has not yet been accepted, revoked, or expired: the email address, role, when it was sent, when it expires, and who sent it. From this list you can:

  • Resend — sends a new invitation to the same address with the same role and restarts the expiry period. The previous link stops working.
  • Revoke — cancels the invitation immediately. The link in the original email no longer works.

Both actions still check that you are allowed to grant the invitation's role, so revoking or resending after a role hierarchy change can fail if the role now outranks you.

Expand Past invitations to see invitations that were accepted, revoked, or expired, along with the date it was decided and who acted on it (for accepted or revoked invitations).

Expiry

An invitation stays valid for a limited number of days after it is sent, after which it can no longer be accepted; resending an invitation issues a new link and starts the period again. If an invitation expires before it is accepted, it moves to Past invitations as expired and you send a new one to reach that person.

Seat limits

Accepting an invitation to a role other than BillingManager uses a seat of your plan. If your organization is already at its seat limit, the Invitations tab shows a warning, and Managers and Owners see a link to upgrade the plan directly from there. Existing invitations stay open; once you upgrade, they can be accepted without sending a new one.
